The iPhone 7’s popularity is unbelievable on the web and off it as well. With Google having released its annual ‘Year in Search’ results for 2016, the tech giant’s flagship became a well-known product in a particular category. Unfortunately, while it topped in that category, it was outmatched by a very popular application, which you’re about to find out.
iPhone 7 Tops the Tech List of the Google Search 2016 Results But Loses to Pokémon GO in the Overall Search Results
This isn’t the first time that an Apple product has managed to secure top position in the Google Search results. 12 months ago, the iPhone 6s was ranked number 1, while the Apple Watch secured the number 3 position. This year, a total of four Apple products secured top positions in the Consumer Tech category and they are listed as follows:
iPhone 7Freedom 251iPhone SEiPhone 6sGoogle PixelSamsung Galaxy S7iPhone 7 PlusGalaxy Note 7Nintendo SwitchSamsung J7
Unfortunately, 2016 did not see the listing of any Apple Watch Series 1 or Series 2 model, despite the product being more powerful, more efficient and boasting a lot of features than its predecessor. Still, a successor doesn’t normally end up doing well, and that isn’t Apple’s fault, it is just the market not maturing enough to entice a larger number of sales.
Coming to the Overall Searches category, iPhone 7 was beaten by Pokémon GO, which isn’t a surprise at all, seeing as how the app took the world by storm. Even though the hype has died down a little, you cannot argue the influx of downloads that came when the app was available to download.
