iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus & iPhone X Will Not Experience Performance and Battery Problems Thanks to ‘Hardware Updates’-February 2024

After a series of benchmarking testsinvolving the iPhone 6s, the device slowed down after being updated to Apple’s latest OS update. Swapping the battery managed to bring the performance back, but Apple was under a lot of heat for throttling performancefor the sake of the user experiencing better battery life. Users who have purchased the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X are not going to face such issues because according to the tech giant, they are rocking the latest hardware updates.

‘Hardware Updates’ in the Latest iPhone Lineup Will Prevent Battery Problems Afflicting These Smartphones in the Coming Years

Apple was able to respond to questions requested from Senator John Thune (R-SD) in a letter that was made public. It explains that the three devices released in 2017 are not going to suffer from the same performance setbacks due to the following reason.

“iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X models include hardware updates that allow a more advanced performance management system that more precisely allows iOS to anticipate and avoid an unexpected shutdown.”

To retain its customers, Apple has also offered them a $29 battery replacement program, instead of the overly priced $79. For customers that paid full price for getting their batteries replaced, Apple is considering offering them a rebatein the process as compensation.

The latest iOS 11.3 beta 2 includes features such as ‘Battery Health’. This will allow users of older iPhones with degraded batteries to enable or disable CPU throttling at will. However, keep in mind that this is going to be a ‘give and take’ relationship. Disabling CPU throttling means that you might not get to experience the same battery life as before, so you will have to choose wisely.
