We have already shared a number of tips and tricks to help you get more battery life from your Samsung Galaxy devices. However, if you are experiencing overheating along with severe battery drainage problems, a mischievous little setting can save you from worrying about these issues.

User complaints and feedback suggests that Galaxy S7 overheating and battery drain problems are appearing after a latest update sent to Oculus app. Samsung’s Galaxy Gear VR Service and an Oculus update areapparently behind this sudden death ofbattery life. The problem is also making Galaxy devices extremely hot.

How to fix Galaxy S7 overheating and battery drain (works for other Galaxy devices too)

If you own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone and are experiencing excessive battery drain, overheating and performance problems, VR might be the cause of all your problems too. Oculus recently sent an app update that has started creating these issues. The problems affect Gear VR-ready Galaxy phones, but the fix is pretty simple.

Okay so it seems that some people on here have come to the conclusion that the battery drain issue that some are experiencing is from an Oculus update this morning (Gear VR). I tried uninstalling the app completely to see if that helps at all - Reddit usersaid

You can fix these issues by simply disabling or deleting the Gear VR Service until Oculus sends an update fixing the problems.

Go to Settings >Applications> Application Manager.Locate Gear VR Service.Uninstall or disable.

Support on community discussion thread advises users to "uninstall Oculus Home first, and then Oculus Rooms (in that order) and then re-dock" the Galaxy device. "After you do that, it should download the latest working update," hopefully fixing the issue.

Before uninstalling or disabling, however, simply open the app and see if it fixes the issue. Some users have reportedthat an Oculus update pushed itself through when the app was opened. The update seems to fix the problem. If it doesn't, try the above fixes to see if you get rid of these problems.

Don’t forget to share with us if disabling the Gear VR Service or uninstalling the Oculus app helped you fix Galaxy S7 overheating and battery drain problems.
