Rumors about the infamous Galaxy S23 FE are ramping up. Only a few days ago, I talked about how the upcoming device would end up featuring Samsung's fabled Exynos 2200 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or even the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Now, we have received some new information about the phone, and this time around, we have an idea about how much the device is going to cost, and yes, it is a piece of good news.
The Galaxy S23 FE could end up costing a little over $600, making it one of the best affordable premium smartphones despite an older chipset
A Korean news outlet has reported once again that the Galaxy S23 FE is going to release with Exynos 2200 chipset under the hood and will be released in the second half of 2023. And while we already know these details, the outlet goes into detail and talks about the possible price of Samsung's affordable flagship as well.
The outlet reports that the Galaxy S23 FE is going to cost 800,000 South Korean won, which roughly converts to $609. This is perhaps one of the most compelling prices for a flagship-level device. Not just that, this would put the fan edition almost $200 cheaper than the base Galaxy S23 which starts at $800.
Now, considering how the Fan Edition devices are usually affordable, the price makes sense. Honestly, if the Galaxy S23 FE does end up costing this much, it would not matter what chipset it is packing. Sure, the Exynos 2200 is known for its performance issues, but we talk about that in light of the flagship devices, not mid-range ones. The performance of the Exynos 2200 is unacceptable for people who are paying over $700 for a phone, but for a phone that costs $600, the Exynos 2200 is easily one of the best choices that Samsung can go for. Sure, it would have been better if Samsung had decided to go with a Snapdragon offering, but at this price range, I can already guess that the phone is going to be a hit.
The report also sheds light on how the phone is going to release in the second half of 2023. The previous report suggests that it will be released in the fourth quarter, later this year, which would put it somewhere between October and December of this year. This makes sense considering how August/September will see the launch of Samsung's upcoming foldable devices and new tablets.
Sadly, we don't have more information on the Galaxy S23 FE at the moment, but we will keep you posted as the story develops.
