Latest OnePlus 5/5T Open Betas to Add New Features Gaming Mode, Improve the Accuracy of the Weather App, and More-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 3:00 AM

With the rumours and the imminent launch of the OnePlus six looming around the corner, it can be easy to forget OnePlus' previous flagships, the OnePlus 5 and 5T. However, OnePlus hasn't and has stuck to its update schedule for both devices. Like clockwork, OnePlus pushed out open betas for the OnePlus 5 and 5T, at the end of a month. Last mont's open beta has a load of exciting features, but it's a lot less underwhelming this time around. Here's the changelog:

Launcher

Added recent search tag in search app section of the app drawerGeneral bug fixes and improvementsWeather

Improved accuracy of the current locationAdded new icons and updated UIGaming mode

Network boost in Gaming mode – network priority for gaming App in the foreground

The OnePlus launcher got a search tag in the app drawer. Also, the Weather app is getting a fix that it should have had from the beginning: improved accuracy. Gaming Mode is one of those features that is meant to do something on paper but doesn't get a whole lot done. Call me old-fashioned, but Mobile Gaming is still an oxymoron and not a substitute for the real deal. If you do use the gaming mode often with newer, graphically demanding games, do let us know in the comments the difference you've felt with and without it switched on.

As always, the OTA is in a staged rollout. If you don't have Oxygen Updater, an app that greatly simplifies the upgrade process, allowing you to install the update manually in recovery mode. All you need to do is follow the appropriate link for your phone below to get started. If you want to upgrade the old-fashioned way, the download links for the OnePlus 5 and Oneplus 5T are available. Follow the instructions on the page, and you should be good to go. Do note, that if you're running a stable build and want to switch to a beta version, you'll need to completely wipe your device and you'll be restricted to beta updates only in the future.
