Latest Pixel 8 Pro Leak Shows That The Phone Has An Infrared Temperature Sensor On The Back For Tracking Body Temperature-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 3:10 AM

The Pixel 8 series has been public knowledge for as long as we can remember and a lot of us were disappointed that Google did not officially unveil the new phones at I/O 2023 earlier this month. We do know that the phones are coming out later this year, and based on the speculation, October is when these phones are going to come out, but we have got our hands on the first video showing something odd about the upcoming device.

The Pixel 8 Pro has a temperature sensor that can measure body and object temperature, but I don't know why

Based on the information received by 91Mobiles, the Pixel 8 Pro is going to offer a temperature sensor on the back, right below the LED flash, and it will act as a thermometer. This means that you will be able to use this sensor to check your body temperature.

The source actually got their hands on a video showing how this sensor works, and the video in question does look official. But we are not sure what other purposes the sensor actually serves. Still, it is an interesting thing to say Google bringing this sensor on its phones.

It is unclear why Google would go with such a sensor on the back when the phone could use a different one altogether. But this is not the first time we have seen an odd choice coming up in a phone. Samsung used to have a heartbeat sensor on its phones, so Pixel 8 Pro having a temperature sensor somewhat makes sense. The source reveals that aside from your body temperature, the sensor will also be able to measure the object of temperatures, which sounds like a fun thing to do, but we will have to wait and see how that turns out.

The rest of the specifications include the Tensor G3, along with Samsung's ISOCELL GN2 sensor, and more. We are going to keep track of all the leaks and rumors that we hear about Google's upcoming flagship phones. Let us know what feature you are looking forward to the most.
