When was the last time you saw a Helio X10 powered smartphone selling for less than $150. Turns out Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has ended up becoming such a successful product for the company that it might end up crippling the sales of OnePlus 2.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Reaches The Two Million Sales Tally – Could Become The ‘OnePlus 2’ Killer In A Short Period Of Time
According to a source, after Redmi Note 2 was announced, the smartphone was immediately able to sell 800,000 units in a period that lasted just 24 hours. The momentum of the amazingly priced handset did not end there because according to Xiaomi’s operations director, the device was able to exceed the 1.5 million sales mark on September 5, once again showing how effective the company’s business model is coming along. Now, according to the latest statistical report, Redmi Note 2 has crossed the two million sales line, and the company believes that it will easily be able to reach the 10 million sales figure as well.
Coming to the hardware specifications of Redmi Note 2, the smartphone is incorporated with Helio X10, which features an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor running at a clock speed of 2.0GHz (keep in mind that this is for the base model). In terms of performance, the gadget has displayed immense domination, if you take its pricing in to account, and it is also possible that the company might release a Helio X20 chipset version in the near future.
If this happens to be true, then we believe that this will cripple the sales of reigning Android flagship smartphones like Galaxy Note 5, which has a chipset that performs slower than Helio X20. Supplementing the performance of the octa-core processor is 2GB of RAM, along with 16GB of storage for the base model. The better performing version is powered by the same CPU, but it is running at a speed of 2.2GHz instead of 2.0GHz and comes with 32GB of internal memory (both versions also have a storage card slot that can expand the memory up to 32GB).
Redmi Note 2 itself has a 5.5 inch screen size with a 1080p resolution, and for wireless connectivity purposes, the company has also placed an 802.11 ac Wi-Fi adapter and an LTE modem. Providing the necessary amount of battery life of the smartphone is a 3,060mAh cell, and a 13MP/5MP camera sensor combo is also present. Coming to pricing details of both versions; they have been stated below:
16GB - $12532GB - $156
You should keep in mind that these prices are for consumers living in China, whereas online retailers such as Gear Best are selling the base model for over $175. Regardless, it is a small price to pay for such a powerful device.
So what do you guys think? Will Redmi Note 2 be able to cross the 10 million sales tally if Xiaomi ships the smartphone to other regions? Let us know your thoughts.
