We can all agree that the LG G6 has a beautiful design and notable changes in comparison to its predecessors but perhaps one of the few gripes that it suffered from was that it was using a Snapdragon 821. The company definitely had to make a hard call, but it looks like it is not going to be going through the same conundrum any longer. With the LG V30 inbound and G7 to come soon after, the Korean manufacturer has ambitious plans to get the better of its competitors, at least where the announcement dates are concerned.

LG V30 Might Be Announced Shortly After Galaxy Note 8 Unveiling - G7 to Feature Snapdragon 845 to Rival the Galaxy S9

The LG G6 might have been unveiled during MWC 2017, which was during the month of February but it was available to purchase much later than that. With the launch of the V30, Ajanewsreports that the handset would be announced in August, although a specific date has not been provided.

With the Galaxy Note 8 expected to feature a Snapdragon 836, it is possible that the V30 also features the same SoC to duke it out with the remaining Android flagships entering the market during the second half of this year. It will certainly be a competition worth watching, but that does not mean LG does not have another plan set in motion.

That plan comes in the form of G7. The Korean firm has been rumored to unveil the next-gen flagship during the month of January, so it is possible that the next phone is showcased during the CES 2017 trade show. Regarding its specifications, Snapdragon 845 is going to be powering the G7’s innards, meaning overall better performance compared to the Snapdragon 821-powered G6. Now here is the problem; according to our previously reported leak, the specificationsof the Snapdragon 845 detail a 10nm FinFET architecture.

One the other side, different rumors are claiming that Qualcomm’s latest and greatest SoC will be manufactured on the 7nm FinFET process, which is not going to be labeledas an easy task because as more and more transistors are fitted onto a die, the more difficult it becomes to achieve higher yields of these chips.

Samsung and TSMC have already started trial production of this manufacturing process to secure as many partners as possible, and it looks like the G7 is also going to be the recipient of the Snapdragon 845.
