Message Revoke Feature Spotted on WhatsApp Web, Android Beta Gets Font Shortcuts
Message Revoke Feature Spotted on WhatsApp Web, Android Beta Gets Font Shortcuts-February 2024
Feb 11, 2026 11:52 PM

A month ago, there was a lot of buzz about WhatsApp bringing a new feature to revoke or edit sent messages. No such feature debuted even after the alleged reports, but @WABetaInfohas spotted thesame feature on WhatsApp Web. It could also mean that WhatsApp may soon make the feature official through an update soon.

The report comes from @WABetaInfo, who has spotted the messagerevoke feature working on WhatsApp Web. The new feature allows users to recall text messages sent to the contacts or edit them. However, as we also detailed in an earlier post, it shall only work if the recipient has not opened your chat.

In the tweet, @WABetaInfo also claims that a new update for WhatsApp Web is imminent. It will add the revoke feature to the browser version of WhatsApp. The report further claims that users would be able to edit/revoke messages within five minutes of sending them. The feature appeared for some time on the web version and was later disabled.

The sighting of the feature on WhatsApp could mean that it is being tested and we might see an official launch soon on all the WhatsApp platforms including WhatsApp Web.

Additionally, @WABetaInfo also goes on claiming about new font shortcuts that have appeared on WhatsApp beta for Android. WhatsApp for Android version 2.17.148 is reportedly carrying new font shortcuts for bold, italics, and strikethrough. These fonts have been there for quite some time, but their shortcuts would definitely be a sweet little addition. Thankfully, these shortcuts will save us from all the extra work of putting asterisks or underscores at the beginning and end of the text to make it bold or Italics. You can now select the font directly from a shortcut.

For now, there is not much information regarding a fixed timeline for the official rollout of the above-mentioned features. But we can expect it to happen soon as WhatsApp seem to be testing the feature on WhatsApp Web now, which could mean that it is testing it on other platforms.

What are your thoughts on the message revoke/edit feature? Would you like having it on WhatsApp? Share your views in the comment section below.
