Alleged pricing of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card which launches next month has been revealed by Moore's Law is Dead.

According to Moore's Law is Dead, it is rumored that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card might cost a lot more than previously expected. Yesterday, it was reported that NVIDIA was to split the reviews for the GeForce RTX 4070 into two parts, the reference MSRP reviews for the 12th of April and variants that cost an extra premium for the 13th of April. The rumor states that for the reviews dropping on the 12th of April, NVIDIA has told AIBs that they can only include cards that don't cost more than $749.99 US.

This is just $50 US lower than the MSRP of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card. As for the premium models, it is reported that those variants might end up close to $799 US which is 4070 Ti's MSRP. This would mean that the RTX 4070 would end up $250 US higher than the RTX 3070, a 50% price bump over its predecessor. Now nothing is set in stone and these prices can change since we are still around a month away from launch.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti ended up close to the RTX 3090 Ti in terms of performance while the RTX 4070 which is a cut-down variant of that card is expected to drop somewhere between an RTX 3080 Ti and an RTX 3080. Considering that the vast majority of RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 Ti are out of stock and cost anywhere between $600-$850 US, it gives us a reference point as to why the pricing is so high. Also, the competition is yet to offer a product under $900 US with the cheapest RDNA 3 card still retailing at around $849.99 US although some variants have seen drastic pricing cuts of around $800 US.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is expected to feature the AD104-250/251 GPU core. The GPU will feature 5888 CUDA cores, and 12 GB GDDR6X VRAM clocked at 21 Gbps, There seem to be three PCB boards designed for the GeForce RTX 4070 graphics cards, two of which we had pointed out last month and another one has been revealed by Kopite7kimi. The graphics card is expected to feature a 200W TGP which featured a 220W TGP so you're getting a 10% reduction in power. Also, another interesting thing to note is that the GeForce RTX 4070 core config is very similar to the RTX 3070 which also features 5888 cores but the successor houses the Ada GPU core which should not only bring extra performance but also higher efficiency. The card is also reportedly clocked at 1920 MHz base and 2475 MHz boost clocks which gives it just around 30 TFLOPs of compute power.
