Official Intel Slides Show Core i9-14900K CPU Up To 23% Faster Than AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D In Gaming-April 2024
Apr 1, 2026 5:26 PM

A leaked Intel slide has compared the gaming performance of the flagship Core i9-14900K with the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU.

Intel Core i9-14900K & AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPUs Offer Similar Gaming Performance On Average According To Leaked Slides

The official performance benchmarks are part of a leaked presentation which were leaked by HXL and compares the Core i9-14900K with the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. Both of these are the top chips from each camp so it is definitely one of the more interesting comparisons that has leaked out prior to the official launch which is set for 16th of October (21:00 EST).

Starting with the performance numbers, the Intel Core i9-14900K Raptor Lake Refresh CPU has been compared in various games at 1080P High settings against the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU. These settings have been selected to make sure that the CPU is the primary bottleneck. While the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D is used, it should be remembered that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D does offer a slightly better performance in certain games thanks to its single CCD 3D V-Cache configuration as compared to the dual CCDs on the 7950X3D which means that the application has to decide and select which core is better suited for the workload.

Coming to the numbers, the Intel Core i9-14900K CPU ended up faster in 14 out of the 25 titles while the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU ended up faster in 9 titles. The 14900K showed up to double-digit gains in titles such as Metro Exodus (+23%), Starfield (+23%), Total War: Warhammer (+22%), Ashes of The Singularity (+15%), CSGO (+14%) while the 7950X3D was faster in eSports titles such as DOTA 2 and Fortnite. Following is the full performance breakdown:

Intel Core i9-14900K vs AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D (1080p High) Gaming:

The Intel Core i9-14900K being as fast as the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D on average with a +200 MHz clock speed looks really nice considering the chip is expected to cost almost the same as the Core i9-13900K. So you will be getting extra performance without paying a premium. Both chips will be priced very similarly (7950X3D & 14900K) so it all depends on what suits your needs. If you are running an older 12th Gen CPU, then 14900K might be a good upgrade since you can drop the chip on the same socket while the AM5 socket is definitely the path towards longevity of your PC since it will support upcoming generations of Ryzen CPUs too.

The Intel Core i9-14900K CPU will be launching on the 17th of October in retail shelves so it should not be too long before we get to see the real performance figures of the 14th Gen chips.
