The OnePlus 12 could go official in a month or so, followed by an international release date next year. So far, we have received a good chunk of information about the upcoming flagship the OnePlus 12. Now, we have received a confirmation about the charging speed as the phone has gone through a new certification, revealing some information about its hardware, mainly its charging speed, both over wire and wireless.
OnePlus 12 is going to charge 100W with a wired charger, and 50W with a wireless charger
The OnePlus 12, unsurprisingly, will bring 100W of wired charging and 50W of wireless charging when it is released. This is not something that should come as a surprise to anyone because OnePlus phones have always focused on delivering fast charging speed. However, it is worth noting that this certification is most likely for the Chinese model, so there is a chance that OnePlus could reduce the wireless charging speed as it has done in the past with the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 10 Pro.
Needless to say, the OnePlus 12 is going to be a speed demon with its 100W charging since you will be able to charge your phone from 0 to 100 in 25 minutes. Which is impressive, to say the least. I normally don't advise anyone to charge their device from 0 to 100, but it is still impressive. However, it is still not the fastest charging speed that we have seen. There are phones that can go as high as 240W, and 100W is still behind that.
While I do think that the OnePlus 12 is going to be a stellar device, I just don't see the purpose of having a phone that charges this fast in the first place. During my almost two years with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, I never really felt the need for something faster than 45W, so having something at 100W still seems like something that I would not be into. But then again, with the rumored 5,400 mAh battery capacity, you might actually need a charger that fast.
