The OnePlus 12 could remind consumers of a time when the company did its best in releasing price-to-performance flagships, thanks to the latest specifications rumor. While it was obvious that the upcoming handset would be outfitted with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the rest of the internals were unknown until now, and it looks like the company is sparing no expense in delivering the best Android flagship experience to customers in 2024.
A larger vapor chamber is also said to be integrated into the OnePlus 12, and with it, a massive 5,400mAh battery
The specifications shared by Digital Chat Station on Weibo state that the OnePlus 12 will be available in two memory variants; a 16GB and a 24GB one. It is likely that the RAM standard will be LPDDR5X, enabling faster bandwidth while consuming less energy. The storage configurations were not shared by the tipster, but looking at past releases, we can confidently say that the available internal memory variants will not support any microSD cards.
The large vapor chamber should help keep the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 temperatures in check, and if the inclusion of this cooling solution means that the OnePlus 12 will be slightly thicker than its predecessors, then it is a small price to pay to get better thermals. The rear camera specifications are also said to receive a notable upgrade, with the primary 50MP sensor said to belong to Sony’s IMX900 series. The ultrawide angle unit is also said to be a 50MP part, while the telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom will have a maximum image resolution of 64MP.

Coming to the battery specifications, a 5,400mAh cell means the OnePlus 12 should potentially last for the entire day, though your mileage will depend on your usage. The flagship is also said to support fast charging up to 100W and 50W wireless charging. For biometrics, an optical in-screen fingerprint sensor is said to be present, though its size and other details were not mentioned.
If OnePlus can price this top-tier handset at a competitive range, it might reclaim its place as the company that started the whole ‘flagship killer’ trend. Unfortunately, that might be easier said than done because the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that will be running in the OnePlus 12 is said to be more expensivethan what Qualcomm was charging its smartphone partners for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which was $160 per chipset. In any case, let us see what surprises 2024 holds for us, and as always, we will be back with more updates.
