OPPO And Hasselblad Team Up To Bring Next Generation HyperTone Camera System
OPPO And Hasselblad Team Up To Bring Next Generation HyperTone Camera System-February 2024
Feb 11, 2026 10:32 PM

OPPO and Hasselblad have been working together since 2022. Both companies have now announced their latest camera tech that will debut on the OPPO Find X7. The new camera technology is called HyperTone Camera System, and it will deliver top-tier mobile imaging. It will also allow smartphone photography to “usher in a new era in computational photography.”

The new HyperTone Camera System by OPPO and Hasselblad looks promising

OPPO and Hasselblad have worked together and formed the Photography Aesthetics Feature Quantification Lab, which comprises 10 percent photography technicians, 50 percent professional photographers, and 40 percent color experts. The team is working on feature breakdown, solutions planning, and precise tuning so mobile cameras can have better photography technology.

Now, the new HyperTone Camera System that is developed by OPPO and Hasselblad will consist of the HyperTone All Main Camera System, HyperTone Image Engine, and HyperTone ProXDR Display. These solutions are meant to deliver high-quality images in all lighting conditions and focal lengths, and the company has promised that there will be fewer digital artifacts and noise. The purpose of this computational photography technology is to mitigate the woes of traditional mobile photography.

OPPO claims that the new camera technology will improve image clarity by 30 percent and reduce noise by 60 percent. This magical feat is achieved by using AI RAW fusion and advanced tone mapping. The Extra HD Algorithm requires more computing power, but it brings cleaner pictures once processed. Honestly, a lot of it sounds like marketing fluff, but considering Hasselblad is also involved in developing this technology, I look forward to seeing how this ends.

OPPO also talks about how the HyperTone ProXDA Display will help improve the experience as it will record the brightness of 12 million pixels and offers up to eight times more dynamic range on the screen. The company claims that this is going to help bring out the natural tone of the subject, and the photo-viewing experience will be better.

The new HyperTone Camera System will also improve the Hasselblad Portria Mode as it will allow the OPPO devices to create a 3D portrait with delicate tonal changes so the lighting and shadows can be smoothened out without brightening the face too much. There are going to be 45 times more skin tone colors for accurate results. There is also going to be Bokeh Flare Portrait that will allow users to get that cinematic effect so they can have top-tier, out-of-focus effects.

The new HyperTone Camera System will debut with the OPPO Find X7 series and slowly start making its way to other phones from the company. The new camera technology will also make its way to OnePlus phones, which we might see in the OnePlus 12. Needless to say, the technology does seem promising, but we cannot say for sure until we see how it works in real time.
