Yesterday marked the day when the Nexus Launcher incarnated into a Pixel Launcher alongside the company's announcement of Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. The Nexus Launcher was available for a range of smartphones rather than only those branded by Google. Now, things are about to change as the company has made the Pixel Launcher exclusive to its Pixel smartphones. At least for some time. Let's see some more details on the availability of the Pixel Launcher for otherAndroid smartphones.

Pixel Launcher Will Be Exclusive To Google's Pixel Handsets, At Least For Now

The search engine giant recently confirmed that the new launcher is exclusive to Pixel device. This means that no other Android device will support it unless it is released under the same name. Other than this, the company also states that they do not have any plans to include the Pixel Launcher on the Nexus devices. However, Google's decision is only time exclusive and it could be possible that we see Pixel Launcher on other Android handsets in the coming months.

Compared to nexus Launcher, the new Pixel Launcher has been a subject to some design variations that also includes app icons. When you initially unlock the smartphone, you will see that the Launcher now includes a 'Pill' shaped Google Search widget that lets you do all your searches right from the Home screen. Other than this there is also a date or a weather widget on the display.

The app drawer that we're all familiar with Nexus devices has also been revamped. Now you simply have to swipe up from the bottom favorite tray. The app icons that we mentioned earlier are now round in shape and the launcher now also features home screen shortcuts. The design and layout variations in the Pixel Launcher are a welcome change sinceit has been some time that we're seeing more or less the same vanilla Android experience.

The Google Pixel handsets were recently announced that boasts quite a handful of tricks up its sleeves that other Android smartphones are not currently offering. Pixel smartphones also offerup-to-date internals with Snapdragon 821 and 4GB of RAM. The devices come in 32GB and 128GB storage options. Above all, the inclusion of a Pixel Launcher just makes the device lookway more interesting compared to last year's Nexus devices.

This is it for now, folks. What are your thoughts on the Pixel Launcher being exclusive to Google's Pixel handsets? Were you looking forward to installing it on your Android handset? Let us know in the comments.
