The Pixel Tablet will make its debut later this year alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel Fold devices. Google unveiled the tablet last year at Google I/O 2023 and, at that time, gave us very little information to go with it. However, ever since then, we have been seeing a plethora of leaks and rumors surrounding the tablet, and the latest couple of renders show us that the tablet now has a physical switch, something that you can use as a privacy switch.

The Pixel Tablet looks a lot like Google's forgotten Nexus 10

Now, it shouldn't come as a surprise, but Google's plans for the Pixel Tablet also involve a feature that will let you use the tablet as a smart display, and the physical switch makes sense as it could act as a privacy switch that is normally found on smart displays.

The discovery was made by renowned tipster/leaker SnoopyTech, who shared the renders of the Pixel Tablet. You can have a look at the images below:

As you can see in the second image, the Pixel Tablet appears to have a switch on top. Now, for those wondering what the privacy switch does, smart home devices normally come with these switches that ensure that the microphone is turned off when these devices are docked and not in use. Considering how this tablet will integrate with Google's current offering of smart home devices, I am not surprised to learn that the hardware switch is there.

Sadly, we cannot confirm anything more about it because last when Google showed the Pixel Tablet, there was no switch present. However, it now seems like the company has had a change of heart, and it isn't really a bad thing. I think it is an excellent move by Google.

As for specs, there have been conflicting rumors about the chipset found in the Pixel tablet. Some say that it is going to be the Tensor G2 while there have been rumors in the past claiming that it is going to be the original Tensor that was found in the Pixel 6 series. Sadly, we cannot confirm anything at the time of writing and will have to wait for the table to eventually come out.
