Realme GT5 Pro Is Here With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, A Familiar Design, And Palm Unlock Gesture Support-February 2024

Considering how we are heading towards the end of the year, this is the time for Chinese smartphone manufacturers to truly shine with their phones. The recently released OnePlus 12 is an impressive example. Now, we have another impressive device in the form of Realme GT5, bringing everything other phones have to offer as well as some throwback features that most of us have forgotten about.

Realme GT5 Pro is an excellent smartphone that needs to be available in more markets

Let's get the obvious out of the way. You can read the name and tell that the phone is going to pack top-tier specs. The Realme GT5 Pro is not shying away, as you are getting the class-leading Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, along with a number of other features that might raise an eyebrow.

Aside from a mighty chipset, you are also getting a massive 5,400 mAh cell, 50W wireless charging, an OLED screen that goes as high as 4,500 nits at peak brightness, and 1,000 nits of brightness via manual adjustment. You are also getting a global maximum brightness of 1,600 nits. Needless to say, it is apparent that the company knows what they are doing.

Realme hasn't bluntly copied OnePlus. There are some changes in the Realme GT5 Pro that set it apart. For instance, the screen offers 1.5K resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate and goes as low as 0.5Hz, which sounds ridiculously impressive and should help with the battery life even more.

The Realme GT5 Pro also brings a slightly different camera setup on the back. The Sony LYT-808 makes a return. There is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel 3x periscope zoom camera. The camera system does look good, except for the ultra-wide camera, which should have had a higher resolution. On the front, you will find a 32-megapixel camera.

Now, moving on to the weirdest feature that one can think about on a modern-day smartphone. The Realme GT5 Pro can actually be unlocked with your palm. Yes, you can open your palm and bring it close to the screen, and the phone will unlock like that. In addition to that, you are also getting an AI gesture control system, which would let you hover your hand over the phone screen and be able to use twelve gestures for different purposes, something we have already seen in the past.

As far as the pricing and availability are concerned, it is worth noting that the phone is currently not launching in international markets, and the company does not have any plans, either. However, that might change in the future. If you are interested in getting your hands on the Realme GT5 Pro, then here are the variants with their respective prices.

12/256GB: 3,399 yuan (~$47916GB/1TB: 4,299 yuan (~$606)

Honestly, I really like the phone based on the pricing we have given, but considering we might never get to see it in international markets, it is a letdown. Otherwise, it would have been one of the more affordable flagship phones in the market, and we do need that.
