Samsung’s involvement with the rumored AR headset and the potential rival to the Apple Vision Pro is picking up steam through rumors and leaks. According to the latest trademark filing by the UKIPO, the Korean giant seemingly refers to its next head-mounted wearable as the ‘Samsung Glasses,’ which can confuse future buyers if this is going to be the product’s official name.
Tipster claims that the initial shipment volume of the rumored ‘Samsung Glasses’ will only be 30,000 units, implying that it will be a niche product
The trademark number ‘UK00003947958’ shared by @OreXda in the post below reveals the name ‘Samsung Glasses,’ though it is unconfirmed if the company will retain the same title during the official announcement. The tipster notes that the trademark was filed on November 10, with mass production expected to happen in December. A while back, we reported that the unnamed Samsung AR headset’s mass production would start in December of this year, with the device apparently sporting the codename’ Infinite(muhan).’
That same report mentioned that Samsung intends to unveil the new headset at its second ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event, which will be held in the second half of 2024. However, the manufacturer is targeting an extremely low initial shipment volume of 30,000 units, making it significantly lower than the Apple Vision Pro’s 600,000 shipments estimate for next year. Needless to say, Samsung likely expects that its AR headset may not gain much traction, and it could fetch a higher price tag to offset the low volume.

Earlier, Samsung was rumored to have scrapped development on an earlier prototype of its AR headset that was fueled by an Exynos 2200 and featured an extremely unattractive design when directly compared to the Apple Vision Pro. This may have been the reason why Samsung delayed the launch, with the product now slated to arrive by next year, though several details remain elusive for the time being.
It is also possible that the trademark ‘Samsung Glasses’ is for an entirely different product and completely unrelated to the unnamed AR headset, so we recommend our readers treat this information with a pinch of salt, and we will be back with more updates.
