Samsung Has Finally Decided to Update the Emojis with the Latest One UI 5.0 Update-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 3:08 PM

Considering how Samsung has started rolling out the stable version of its Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update to the Galaxy S22 series, you are also getting a lot of new features with the latest update, and one of the features that the latest update brings is support for Unicode 15.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Series Now Has Over 138 New Emojis Thanks to the Android 13-Based One UI 5.0 Update

The Galaxy S22 series is now the first phone to have received the latest emojis. Emojipedia announced back in September that there are going to be new emojis that will be shipping with the latest Unicode Standard, the latest standard introduced 31 emojis in total.

Google also announced that there are going to be bringing support for Unicode 15 and along with that, new emojis, too. However, Samsung has decided to beat Google and introduce the new standard before Google by announcing the Unicode 15 in their One UI 5.0 update, although this was not included in the official changelog for the update.

However, One UI 5.0 doesn't just bring 31 new emojis, it actually brings 138 new emojis. Why? Well, Samsung was not using the 107 emojis that were introduced with the previous version of Unicode, and the previous version of Unicode had 107 emojis. Instead of ever rolling out the biggest Unicode 14 to the phones, Samsung skipped it altogether and decided to go with the latest Unicode 15 standard that not just included the newer emojis, but the older ones.
