Samsung Is Offering A Better Galaxy Z Fold 5 Trade-In Deal For The Pixel 7 Pro Than Google Is For Its Pixel Fold
Samsung Is Offering A Better Galaxy Z Fold 5 Trade-In Deal For The Pixel 7 Pro Than Google Is For Its Pixel Fold-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 7:04 AM

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 can now be pre-ordered from Samsung’s website, and with its retail price of $1,799.99 in the U.S., the foldable flagship is not meant for everyone thanks to what the company wants for it, but it is offering a small lifeline in the form of trade-in deals. Simply give Samsung a flagship that is your ownership, and depending on its condition, you will get trade-in credit which you can use to get a massive discount on the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

The problem here is that if you are a Pixel 7 Pro owner, it is laughable to see that Samsung is actually offering you a better deal than Google is for its Pixel Fold. This can show that the Korean giant is valuing its customers more, despite the fact that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and its latest competitor from Google cost the same in the U.S. However, there can be other reasons for this.

Google only giving Pixel 7 Pro owners $380 of trade-in credit for the Pixel Fold, Samsung offering substantially more

The massive differences in trade-in values for the same smartphone were spotted by Trenton’s Tech on Twitter, and naturally, he shared the differences on the micro-blogging social network. If you want a Pixel Fold, Google only offers you $380 for your Pixel 7 Pro, while Samsung is offering a whopping $600 to help you become the new Galaxy Z Fold 5 owner. This difference can hint that either Google does not care about its own Pixel user base, or maybe it costs the company more to manufacture each Pixel Fold unit.

However, it should be noted that Google likely asked its suppliers to mass produce a small batch of Pixel Fold units, whereas Samsung has the lion’s share of the foldable market, with its Galaxy Z Fold 5 likely made in the millions. This means it can afford to lose some margins by offering customers higher trade-in values for the Pixel 7 Pro or any other flagship launched in 2022 or 2023.

Since Samsung also has several years of experience mass-producing high-end foldable smartphones, it is in a better position than Google in terms of product longevity, durability, and other features. Regardless, do you think Pixel 7 Pro owners should get a higher trade-in value for wanting to get a Pixel Fold? Tell us in the comments.
