Earlier today, we reported that Samsung could release an affordable foldable phone next year. However, the main thing many people have in mind is how the words "foldable" and "affordable" don't go together. Foldable phones are all about technological advancements and cutting-edge aesthetics and construction. Combining it with affordable could backfire, no?

A Samsung foldable phone costing between $400 and $500 could be an absolute win

Well, we have seen affordable foldable phones in the market from other companies, but it appears that what Samsung plans to do is even more aggressive. Based on a tip from a renowned tipster, the foldable coming out next year could cost anywhere between $400 and $500.

If that does happen, Samsung will put the foldable right around the same price range as its Galaxy A series devices, and this has made me think that maybe the foldable will be a part of the Galaxy A lineup. If that is the case, we could see an affordable foldable every year. If that happens, we will see some stiff competition in the affordable segment, as other companies will also have to step up.

At the same time, the one thing that I will point out is that if you are looking at the affordable segment, there are some concerns that I mentioned in my previous post. So far, the foldable phones that we have seen are expensive mainly because of some really solid choices with the design. If Samsung or any other company attempts to design a foldable phone that is affordable and costs somewhere between $400 to $500, they will have to make a phone that is still durable while maintaining functionality in terms of specs.

So, keeping all this in mind, I am excited to see how this pans out, and I do hope this works, as it will make foldable phones more accessible and increase the adaptation rate as well.
