Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Is Finally Here With 15% Faster CPU, 50% More Powerful GPU, And AI Capabilities-July 2024
Jul 30, 2025 6:13 AM

Qualcomm has finally lifted the curtains off the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, and it brings many improvements over its predecessors. For starters, the processor is fabricated on TSMC's 4nm process and has a 1+3+4 CPU configuration. The Kryo CPU offers a prime core clocked at 2.63GHz, you also have 3x performance cores running at 2.4GHz, and four efficiency cores are running at a modest 1.8GGHz.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 looks like a steal deal for anyone who is looking for a mid-range CPU as it delivers great performance for its intended price segment

Speaking of performance, Qualcomm has claimed that you will get a 15% improvement in CPU and a 50% performance improvement in the GPU compared to last year's chipset. There is also 20% power saving on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, but these are based on tests that Qualcomm has conducted, so the real-life performance may vary.

Inside the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, you also find the Hexagon NPU. This will allow for 60% faster AI performance compared to the predecessor, and there is also the Adreno GPU with support for OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and Vulkan 1.3 APIs.

Another great thing about the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is that it also has support for up to 4K resolution running at 60Hz. However, FHD+ resolution can go as high as 168Hz. The chipset also sports the Qualcomm Spectra ISP, which allows for up to a 200-megapixel camera system with 4K HDR video recording at 60Hz. Handling the connectivity is the Snapdragon X63 5G Modem-RF system, which delivers 5Gbps download speed on both mmWave and sub-6 GHz bands. The chipset also offers Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for better wireless connectivity.

You will not have to wait for Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 devices, as Qualcomm has announced that the devices will be launching later this month. The company also talks about how Honor and Vivo will be the first companies to deliver phones based on the new platform. Honestly, I believe that based on the specs alone, the chipset delivers great value. However, considering how it is a mid-range chipset, we are going to have to wait and see just how other companies use the prowess and deliver something that is actually worth spending the money on.
