Earlier this year, Samsung shocked us by shaking hands with Qualcomm for an exclusivity deal. The deal was simple, Samsung would be the company that would get a higher-clocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The new chipset was known simply as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy and boasted better overall scores.
While we did imagine that this exclusivity would last longer, this changed when we started hearing rumors about the company going back to the drawing board to work on flagship Exynos processors once again. It appears that the Redmagic 8S Pro is going to be the first device to feature an overclocked version of the processor.
Redmagic 8S Pro features overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with up to 24 gigs of RAM
The confirmation is coming from the brand itself as they have confirmed it on Weibo that the upcoming Redmagic 8S Pro will be coming with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version. I am sure other brands will have a different name, but at least that is what we are getting now.
For those wondering, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version used in the Redmagic 8S Pro is clocked at 3.36GHz, this is the same clock speed found in the chipset used in the Galaxy S23 series, and for those who don't know, the base variant is clocked at 3.2GHz. Aside from the CPU, the GPU also sees a respectable boost from 680MHz to 719MHz, and we have a reason to believe that the Leading Version will also see this bump.

Not just that, the Redmagic 8S Pro is also going to bring up to 24 gigs of RAM, confirming another rumor that surfaced yesterday. Honestly, I think 24 gigs of RAM is an overkill, but hey, it's a gaming phone we are talking about, and this should not surprise anyone in the first place.

The Redmagic 8S Pro is scheduled to go official on July 5th, next month. So, you are going to get the official announcement post once the phone eventually comes out. Of course, this phone is easily going to be the most specced out gaming smartphone in the market, and you should expect to pay a premium, just not as much as some of the other flagship smartphones are costing.
