Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 running in Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series gets a CPU and GPU clock speed boostthat allows the SoC to register higher performance in some tasks. Dubbed the ‘Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy,’ the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy slated to arrive next year could offer the highest single-core performance for any device, beating the A17 Bionic, at least according to a tipster.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy could achieve a single-core performance score that crosses 2,000, but that could be while using an older version of Geekbench
On Twitter, RGcloudS started a comprehensive thread discussing Samsung’s and TSMC’s next-generation manufacturing nodes. Inside that thread, we spotted that he was talking about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, which is Qualcomm’s higher-performing Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 variant exclusively meant for Samsung’s Galaxy S24 lineup next year. The tipster claims that the new SoC will be able to deliver a single-core result of 2,000 points, beating the A17 Bionic.
Given that Geekbench 6recently launched, he is likely referring to the scores obtained by the upcoming chipset while running Geekbench 5. For reference, the A16 Bionic scores around 1,800+ points, and with the A17 Bionic expected to focus on power efficiencyrather than performance, there is a possibility that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy becomes the new smartphone king of single-core performance.

Tipster suggests the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy could end up beating the A17 Bionic next year in the single-core department
An earlier alleged single-core and multi-core leak of the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was published last week, showing that the SoC demolishes the A16 Bionic in both testsand gets a single-core score of 1,930. Given that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy will likely run at higher CPU and GPU clock speeds, it is not difficult to believe that the latter will break the 2,000 single-core score barrier when running Geekbench 5.
The only question is, who will Qualcomm choose to mass manufacture the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3; TSMC or Samsung? It is possible that Qualcomm adopts a dual-sourcing approach, where both TSMC and Samsung are involved, but it is too early to make assumptions, just like it is too early to hype up the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. As such, treat this information with a pinch of salt for now, and we will get back with more updates.
