Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Reportedly Delivers A 10.6 Percent Improved Power Efficiency When Running Genshin Impact On The Xiaomi 14-February 2024

Genshin Impact is one of the most demanding games made for the Android and iOS platforms, with even Apple’s latest A17 Pro struggling to run it smoothlyat the highest settings due to increased thermals. Fortunately, Qualcomm’s latest flagship entrant, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, may have overcome these limitations when running the game in the upcoming Xiaomi 14. Apparently, the latest SoC improves power efficiency by 10.6 percent when running the intensive title and maintains temperatures quite well, too.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 barely misses the 60FPS mark when running Genshin Impact but controls thermals well

Despite achieving those power efficiency improvements, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is unable to maintain a solid 60FPS when running Genshin Impact, with a few images shared by Revegnusshowing that the SoC can allow the Xiaomi 14 to obtain 59.39FPS. This is still an impressive result, though the images do not reveal the visual settings at which the aforementioned framerate was achieved, and nor was it mentioned if the area in the game was combat-intensive or if free roam was being done at the time of testing.

Keep in mind that while running Genshin Impact, there are noticeable performance drops when engaged in combat, but that is an excellent measure of the smartphone’s GPU performance and the cooling solution’s capabilities. Regardless, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 manages to achieve this result with a temperature of 43.2 degrees Celcius, which is relatively cool, but the reason why those figures may not be abnormally high is because the Xiaomi 14 may be equipped with a beefy heat dissipation system.

We want to remind you that in previous Geekbench 6’s multi-core results, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 surpassed the A17 Pro to become the fastest mobile SoC at this time, and it should be pointed out that the chipset was being tested in the Xiaomi 14. Not every smartphone outfitted with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will deliver the same thermals, and your climate will also play a huge role in manipulating Genshin Impact’s performance at the highest graphics settings.

However, the results achieved by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 are still nothing to ignore, and it will be interesting to compare the Xiaomi 14 to the iPhone 15 Pro Max when running Genshin Impact and see how the two flagships fare in overall performance, thermals, and fluidity of the gameplay. As always, we will have updated results for you in the future, so stay tuned.
