We have heard a great many things of Qualcomm’s flagship SoC, Snapdragon 820 and thanks to the latest leak, the company might be prepping a second revision of the chipset.

Snapdragon 820 Revision 2 Dominates In Geekbench – Check Out The Scores Right Here

According to the latest Geekbench scores, Snapdragon 820 scores quite impressively in the application, and as you can see in the image, those results are not something to be trifled with. Only a couple of days ago, we reported the first ever smartphone to sport the high-end SoC, Letv Le Max Pro, which is an indication that the upcoming one could perform just as well. However, now that there is a leak suggesting the emergence of a second revision, the question to ponder is why would Qualcomm think of producing a second revision Snapdragon 820?

Perhaps the Snapdragon 820 could be a much more powerful variant of the first one, since the chip running inside the announced smartphone comprises up of a quad-core Kryo processor running at a speed of 2.2GHz, and it could very well be the that the upcoming revision could feature an octa-core CPU, resulting in nearly twice the level of performance. While this is only speculation, it has been rumored that such a chip could be released during the first half of 2016.

As for the smartphone itself that was used in the benchmarking test, it looks like Qualcomm has successfully managed to secure more than a few partners because Rain Rain A3000 is possibly the first ever unique handset name that we have ever come across. Thanks to previous Letv smartphones, the company started becoming more familiar to us, but this is a whole new brand altogether. However, one tiny detail to notice here is that the processor running inside the smartphone comprises up of a quad-core running at a speed of 1.59GHz. It could possibly be for testing purposes, but we will update you on that front later down the road.

As for the other specifications, the smartphone packs 4GB of RAM, and is running Android Marshmallow 6.0.1, so whatever brand it might be, we should assume it is going to be the flagship offering, and hopefully, we will get to see some more results in the future. As for the benchmarking scores themselves, what do you think of Qualcomm’s decision to release a second variant during the first half of 2016? Let us know your thoughts.
