At the beginning of the next month, Microsoft is expected to hold an eventwhere it will presumably announce new devices. It was earlier reported that the company might swapIntel processors with AMD ones for most of its new devices and now a German publication has allegedly leaked the key Surface Laptop 3 specifications.

With Intel’s 10th-Gen CPUs Also Available, Microsoft Could Use Them for the Surface Pro 7 Range

According to a new report from WinFuture, several variants of the notebook will be available and the main Surface Laptop 3 specifications have been outed for each trim level. First off, the entry-level model is expected to have four-core AMD Ryzen processor, namely the Ryzen 5 3550U and Ryzen 7 3750U which the company’s OEM partners have started using in their notebooks. The Surface Laptop 3 is expected to cost $999 and $1,099 for the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 variants, respectively, and it’s expected that each model will be mated with 8GB of RAM.

Next up are two models with AMD Ryzen hexa-coreCPUs and 12GB of RAM. The base model is apparently priced at $1399, while the maxed out variant will set you back $1599. After that, we have the highest-end variant with an octa-core processor and 16GB of RAM inside. The two models are expected to carry a price tag of $1999 and $2399.

Now here’s the interesting bit depending on whether or not you follow AMD-related news or not. The company has not actually launched any Ryzen mobile processors bearing six or eight-core configurations. It could be that an announcement is around the corner and Microsoft is the exclusive launch partner. Previously, the Redmond giant and the chipmaker have collaborated on other ventures. With the launch of the Project xCloud inching close, perhaps it will make sense to source chips from AMD. After all, the company makes customized chips for Xbox as well.

Other Surface Laptop 3 specifications included in the report state that the machine will have a 15-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio. The laptop is expected to come with thin bezels and hopeful USB-C will also be a part of the package, and if we’re lucky, they’ll be Thunderbolt 3 support as well.
