The Galaxy Z Flip 5 Cover Display Dwarves Other Cover Displays In Terms of Size And Functionality
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 Cover Display Dwarves Other Cover Displays In Terms of Size And Functionality-March 2024
Mar 29, 2026 4:41 PM

The Galaxy Z Flip 5, releasing this year, will appeal to the younger generation who is not looking for something serious but still want a wicked-cool smartphone. Samsung has been riding on this trend ever since the inception of the first Galaxy Flip phone, and this year is no different as we will see a number of improvements in terms of the design as well as the construction.

Latest Galaxy Z Flip 5 mockup shows that the cover display is significantly larger on the back as compared to previous generations

We recently talked about how the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a larger cover display as compared to some of the other offerings, such as the OPPO Find N2 Flip, and there were even some leaked renders. Now, SamMobile has managed to bring a mockup of how the backside of the phone is going to look, and it seems like all rumors were indeed true.

You can have a look at the image below:

You can see that the implementation of the cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 easily manages to dwarf the one we have seen on some other flipping phones, and it honestly looks excellent. This could result in so many possibilities as to how you can use the external display. It would make an excellent screen for taking selfies with the back camera, which should also be getting an upgrade. It is also pretty evident that Samsung is not going to change the placement of the rear cameras, and judging by the space there on the back, it seems like the phone will have two rear cameras.

However, what I am interested in the most is just how you will be able to fully utilize the display on the back and whether or not you will be able to actually use it as a second home screen. We have seen other devices offering limited functionality for the cover displays. So, here is hoping that Samsung manages to change that up a bit.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will also be seeing other improvements in terms of design as well as hardware. The phones are supposed to go official sometime between August and September. You can expect the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, a camera upgrade, along with all the new stuff that One UI 5.1 brings. So be sure to stay tuned as we will be covering these devices.
