The smartphone industry is going through some downward trends as we see the shipments slowing down and parts generally becoming more expensive than before. This has resulted in many companies increasing the prices of phones that sit in the higher-end segment, and it seems that the upcoming Pixel 8series will also be joining the fold and will cost more than its predecessor.

The Pixel 8 could end up costing $649 or $699, releasing in early October

Ideally, a newer generation of a smartphone costs just as much as its predecessor, which becomes a strong, convincing factor for anyone who is looking to jump ships or upgrade. However, for some time, we have been observing price hikes in most smartphones, with the Pixel 7a being $50 more expensive than the Pixel 6a, and if the latest tip is to be believed, the same is going to be the case with the Pixel 8 series.

Based on information from renowned tipster Yogesh Brar, the Pixel 8 is going to start at $649 or $699, which is a $50 or $100 hike from the base variant of the Pixel 7. This might disappoint some users, but there is good news if you are looking to get your hands on the new Pixel because Brar has also pointed out that the new phone is going to get an ultra-sonic fingerprint reader, which is actually much better than the optical fingerprint reader found on the older devices in terms of speed, and security.

The remaining specs are in line with everything we know about the Pixel 8 from previous leaks. The 6.17-inch 120Hz refresh rate does seem good enough for those who want a compact smartphone, Tensor G3 under the hood, eight gigs of RAM with either 128 gigs or 256 gigs of RAM. You are looking at a pretty decent smartphone for your price. Last but not least, Brar has mentioned that the phone is going to release in early October, later this year.
