Digital Foundry has provided a benchmark video for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt testing the GeForce GTX 960 and the Radeon R9 280/285 and 280X.

You can watch the video below:

Two cut-scenes and a run through Novigrad City on horseback analysed using four different mainstream GPUs. We're running The Witcher 3 on high settings here with all post-processing effects enabled and HairWorks turned off.

The GTX 960 is the winner in this category. It is marginally faster overall than the R9 280X and R9 285, and has fewer latency spikes in frame-time (most noticeable in Novigrad City). Looking to improve your frame-rate? Shadows and foliage should be your first port of call after turning off HairWorks. HBAO+ added a 5fps hit on the R9 280 vs standard SSAO, so that's worth a look too.

Benchmarked on 1.03. We retested with 1.04 and found it was no faster in these scenes (we benched with HairWorks off).

Here are the benchmarks (low/avg):

GTX 960 - 36.0/47.3

R9 280 - 29.0/40.9

R9 285 - 34.0/46.1

R9 280X - 33.0/45.6

A new mod for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been made available, named E3FX which as the name suggests it tries to mimic the E3 2013 trailer. You can check out and download the mod here.

CD Projekt RED has finally released the new update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with the free DLC on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.The update includes a sexy new look for Yennefer and a new mission for Geralt.

The majority of PC sales were digital though. On top of that it seems that it managed to top both the Steam and Green Man Gaming charts as well.

The game has received another patch and the patch notes state an improvement of the texture rendering quality on High and Ultra settings.

Witcher DLC (2)

The Witcher 3 Hunter’s Config is a nice little tool offering easy access to graphical options, and it's certainly worth a look.

As we have previously covered a few adjustments in the ini files can improve thegrass quality in The Witcher 3, as well as the performance. Aworkaround on how to run HairWorks on AMD GPUs without crippling performance, has also been made available, enabling AMD GPU users to enjoy The Witcher 3 with HairWorks enabled, while getting better performance than GeForce users not using a Maxwell architecture Nvidia GPU.

A set of beautiful4K screenshots of the PC versionand some4K gameplay footage, demonstrates just how amazing The Witcher 3 can look.

The Witcher 3 is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. We will bring you any new information on The Witcher 3 as soon as it becomes available.
