[UPDATE]It appears that despite the evidence, Casetify is still calling it an allegation. The company has taken to its Twitter account and talked about how it is currently looking into these claims and has taken down the infringed designs. The company even goes as far as calling itself the "bastion of originality," we are still not sure how this is going to proceed, but it seems like this drama could go on for a while.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Lawsuits in the tech industry are nothing new - we have seen several of them happening, and many more will happen in the future. The latest one, however, involves an alleged billion-dollar company, Casetify, with YouTube Zack Nelson, better known as JerryRigEverything, and case and skin manufacturer Dbrand. The latter parties are accusing the case-maker of blatantly stealing a series of smartphone cases that were designed by JerryRigEverything and Dbrand, to the point that the case-maker did not even try to hide the easter eggs both parties left in the cases.
Casetify ripped off Dbrand and JerryRigEverything's case and skin designs without even removing the easter eggs
Nelson published a YouTube explaining the whole drama and how Casetify shamelessly stole the idea. The evidence that Nelson presented the audience with was more than enough to reach the conclusion that it was an obvious theft. Nelson even went on to talk about how he is not the only one doing teardowns and DIY repair skins or cases, which is not his idea. However, what the case-maker did was take the exact designs, the way they were, and just pasted them on their own cases. Simply copying the homework and making it look very obvious.
As mentioned before, all the cases and skins made by Nelson and Dbrand have several easter eggs, such as frequently used quotes from Nelson's YouTube channel, Dbrand's date of founding, their logo, and even the famous Dbrand pyramid. Casetify copied each and every element, and while they did try to hide some of the more obvious ones, they did a poor job at that, as well. Below, you can see a string of tweets by Dbrand explaining the situation.
Casetify stole our products. Now we’re suing them.
Here’s how we found out... (1/6)

Both Zack Nelson and Dbrand have filed a multi-million lawsuit against Casetify for copyright infringement. Meanwhile, the cases have been removed from the Casetify website, and there is no official word. Last night, even the website went down for a good chunk of time. Lawsuits like this one are a lot more common than one might think but there is usually a grey line in between. However, this has an obvious winner, and we are not sure how long it is going to take, as even Nelson pointed out in his video that the wheels of justice can be very slow. You can watch his video below, explaining the entire drama that took place.
