Feb 12, 2026 1:24 AM

Apple is scheduled to host its WWDC 2023 event in June where it will see fit to announce iOS 17, wearOS 10, and many other upgrades. It has been noted by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman that wearOS 10 will be the biggest update since the launch of the wearable in 2015. It is now being reported that watchOS 10 will feature a redesigned Home Screen with an icon layout inspired by iOS, including the ability to create folders. Scroll down to read more details on the subject.

watchOS 10 will bring folders to Home Screen with bigger and neatly stacked apps like iOS

Apple's WWDC 2023 event will take place on June 5 and will last till June 9. The event will focus on the latest software releases and sessions oriented toward developers. However, the company will also see fit to announce new hardware, such as the 15-inch MacBook Air. Nonetheless, the new software features for the iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch will be the highlight of the event. According to a leaker @analyst941 on Twitter, watchOS 10 will come with a redesigned Home Screen with the ability to create folders.

The redesigned Home Screen layout will resemble the like of iOS. What this means is that the icons will be displayed in a similar manner to that of iOS. Currently, watchOS offers two distinct layouts for Home Screen - Grid and List view. If the news has any heft to it, the apps will be stacked neatly, similar to iOS. This will pose various advantages over the Home Screen layouts that we currently use.

watchOS 10 Home Screen Concept

With the new Home Screen layout in watchOS 10, users will be able to organize their apps using folders. Currently, it is very cumbersome to locate the apps on the Home Screen as there are no ways to organize the apps. Additionally, the app icons on the Grid View are very small, which gives room for unintended taps on apps. You have the option to enlarge the view using Digital Crown, but it is an added operation to launch a certain app. In the List view, the entire apps on your Apple Watch are arranged in a list format. It also makes it very time-consuming for users to find a certain app.

With watchOS 10's redesigned Home Screen, users will be able to put similar apps in a folder. Additionally, the icons would be comparatively larger than the current layout. Overall, it will improve user experience and offer applications in an organized fashion.

Apple will release watchOS 10 at its WWDC 2023 event to developers for testing purposes. We will share more details on watchOS 10 as soon as further details are available. Would you like to see folders in watchOS 10? Let us know in the comments.
