We Finally Know What Snapdragon 8 Chipset Will Be In Nothing Phone 2
We Finally Know What Snapdragon 8 Chipset Will Be In Nothing Phone 2-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 8:31 AM

During the MWC 2023, we learned that the Nothing Phone 2 will be launching later this year. Along with that, we also got word on the fact that this will be the first phone from the company to feature a Snapdragon 8-series chipset, but at that time, we did not get our hands on any of the detail. Well, that changed today as a Qualcomm executive accidentally revealed the chipset that will be featured in the upcoming Nothing flagship.

Nothing Phone 2 to have a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 process, confirms Qualcomm executive by mistake

In a now-edited post, Alex Katouzian, SVP and GM Mobile, Computer, and XR business department at Qualcomm, talked about the chipset found in the upcoming Nothing Phone 2. The post congratulated Carl Pei and the Nothing team on the launch of the new phone with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. Shortly after that, it was edited with new information to hide what Katouzian initially said. Thankfully, 91Mobiles took a screenshot that you can look at below:

For those wondering, Katouzian's post is still there, and now it mentions a Snapdragon 8 series chipset instead of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. You can see the new post here.

I will be honest, I was expecting a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 instead of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, but given my understanding, the older chipset is no slouch either. Media outlets over the world praised the chipset for its excellent efficiency over the predecessor and great battery life, too. Combined with the barebones nature of Nothing OS, I am looking forward to what the Nothing Phone 2 is going to offer.

Honestly, while it is great that the Nothing Phone 2 is going to use a powerful chipset that should not be slept on, I am more excited about what the company does with the phone itself. The Nothing Phone 1 was the first Android smartphone in ages that decided to break away from the tradition of all phones being the same. Sure, it did not have any cool quirks, but the lighting on the phone was something that was cleverly implemented, and the transparent back showing the inside of the phone was also a good upgrade.

Here is hoping that Nothing Phone 2 does not fall victim to smartphones losing their identity, something even Pei talked about when he reviewed the OnePlus 11. There is sadly no detail as to when the phone will be coming out, but expect details to start coming out in the coming months.
