Who Is the Galaxy S9 for? Analysts Believe it Has Been Made for Galaxy S7 Users-March 2024

IHS Markit analysts have recommended that Samsung should market the Galaxy S9 to the users of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, and the owners of other Samsung flagships released before 2017. Although the upcoming Android smartphones will be catered for various markets, IHS Markit does not believe think that Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners will be inclined to upgrade their phones, so the company thinks thatit’s best if Samsung does not waste time on them.

IHS market analysts recommend that the Galaxy S9 series should be marketed to Samsung smartphone owners who bought their devices two years ago. They will be inclined to make a switch due to significant differences in the features, performance, and design of the new phones.

According to the estimates of IHS Markit, till date, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are the most commonly used flagships in the world even though they were released back in 2016. IHS Senior Director of Mobile and Telecoms, Ian Fog said Samsung should also focus on highlighting the differences between its upcoming flagships and that of the rivals like Apple.

Features such as the Infinity Display and the amazing imaging capabilities can make the Galaxy S9 series stand out. Samsung wasn’t probably going to target Galaxy S8 owners anyway, as a lot of recent reports have said that the upcoming flagships will deliver incremental updates over the products released in 2017. The overall look of the handsets will remain the same, with an 18.5:9 QHD+ screen which curves around the long edges of the handsets. Galaxy S9 will have the same 4GB RAM as its predecessor.

The 5.8-inch powerhouse will have a lens with a variable aperture, while the 6.2-inch Galaxy S9 Plus will have a dual-camera setup using a similar module and another 12-megapixel camera behind a fixed aperture lens. The two phones are expected to be announced on Sunday and will be released internationallyon March 16.
