Xiaomi finally unveiled the Xiaomi 13 Ultra earlier today, and while it might seem like an upgraded version of the Xiaomi 13 Pro, it has a lot of neat features under the hood, including a 1-inch sensor that offers variable aperture, top-of-the-line specs and more. However, one thing that we noticed during the live stream is the display on the phone and how it offers better overall specs than both the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the Galaxy S23 Ultra, arguably two of the best smartphones in the market.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra uses an OLED panel from China Star, and it is better than anything that the competition has to offer
During the announcement, Xiaomi revealed that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra comes with an LTPO AMOLED panel. Pretty expected, right? But the catch here is that the panel found in the new flagship can go as high as 2,600 nits when it comes to peak brightness, which essentially would mean that it is much better in terms of efficiency and power consumption.
Now, for comparison's sake, the panel on the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is supplied by Samsung, goes as high as 2,000 nits, and the panel on the Galaxy S23 Ultra goes as high as 1,750 nits—making the Xiaomi 13 Ultra's display 30% brighter than the iPhone 14 Pro Max and a whopping 48% brighter than the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Of course, one can argue that such numbers only make sense on paper, and real-life experiences would not differ. While this statement might be true to some extent, one cannot deny the fact that Xiaomi has managed to deliver a rather impressive product. Interestingly, the display found in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is neither provided by LG nor Samsung. Instead, the company has decided to go with China Star, a Chinese OLED manufacturer, for its latest display.
Sadly, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is not available globally at the moment. However, when launched in the global market, it is going to pose as a serious competitor for both Samsung and Apple. This also marks an era where smartphone manufacturers cannot just rely on brand equity and will have to deliver products that are cutting-edge in terms of design and performance.
Hopefully, this year's iPhone 15 Pro Max and next year's Galaxy S24 Ultra will be able to rival the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, but until then, we can just wait.
