Apple has a rich history and any artifacts from the initial days are now considered rare. These rare artifacts collect thousands of dollars at auction due to their uniqueness and how they tell the story of the company. We have previously seen how the original iPhone models fetch thousands of dollars just because they were sealed packed and unused. With that said, a very rare pair of Apple Sneakers from the 90s are going up for auction and selling for upward of $50,000.
Rare Apple Sneakers to fetch $50,000 at auction
Not everyone knows, but Apple made sneakers based on Apple Computer with accented colors of the former logo. Take note that these sneakers were not available to the general public and were probably produced in limited quantities. The Omega Sports Apple Computer Sneakers are available at auction for a whopping $50,000. The sneakers pack a pretty straightforward design with laces and do give a 1990s vibe.
In terms of looks, the Apple Sneakers are made of a white leather upper with rainbow Apple logos next to the laces and the tongue of the shoes. There is also an air cushioning window in the heel, and is designed for men with a 10.5 size. The images show white laces, but the package also comes with red laces. The Apple Sneakers are probably not for wearing but are a collector's item at this stage. In the future, the sneakers would fetch an even higher amount.

Even though Apple had its merchandise available under "The Apple Collection" branding, these sneakers were tailored for Apple employees only in the 1900s. These were made available to employees at conferences, and the company did it only once. What this means is that Apple Sneakers have not been sold to the general public. The auction house Sotheby's says that the sneakers are "one of the most obscure in existence."
Custom-made for Apple employees, these ultra-rare sneakers were a one-time giveaway at a National Sales Conference in the mid-'90s. More than 22,000 Apple consumers purchased clothing and accessories from the brand in 1985, a testament to the public's dedication across categories. For the products outside of Apple's zone of expertise, they would partner with leading brands such as Lamy, Honda, and Braun to apply their iconic Apple branding to various white label products.
The rare Apple Sneakers are not in perfect condition, even though the description of the product reads "new in the box." There appears to be slight yellowing near the midsoles. This is not the first time that an Apple artifact has gone on sale. We will share more details on the subject as soon as further information is available.
