Give Your Older iPad A Boost In Performance On iOS 9

Just like any other iOS release, iOS 9 also took its toll on older devices by bringing sluggish performance to the table for many users out there. And while Apple is doing all it can in its power to make sure that its latest mobile OS runs buttery smooth on older devices, but the aging hardware just can't hold up with new lines of code it seems. But, of course, there are ways you can give your older device a boost in performance by going through the usual routine of turning features off, and in today's guide we'll show you how you can pump some performance life into your older iPad model by turning off certainfeatures.

Turn Off Multitasking Features

Navigate to Settings > General > Multitasking and turn off the 'Allow Multiple Apps' and 'Persistent Video Overlay' toggle switches. This will disable the feature which allows you to run multiple apps on the display and of course, turn off Picture-in-Picture mode. Turning these features off will ensure that your iPad's RAM is absolutely free as it ever can be.

Turn Off Parallax And Motion Effects

Navigate to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion and make sure that the toggle switch is set to the ON position. This will turn off all motion effects, reducing the stutter you'd normally face when jumping to and fro between apps.

Turn Off Keyboard Clicks And Lock Sounds

A battery hog and performance muncher, we advise users to turn Background App Refresh feature off on their devices. Navigate to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and move the toggle switch to the OFF position.

Clear The RAM From Time To Time

Did you know that you can manually flushthe RAM on your iOS device? Simply press and hold the power button till you see the 'Slide to Power Off' screen. Let go of the power button and keep on holding the Home button till the power off screen goes away. Once this is done, the RAM is absolutely flushed.

Update To The Latest Version Of iOS

New updates bring with them a lot of performance enhancements, therefore we encourage all users to keep themselves updated no matter what. In order to update over the air, simply navigate to Settings > General > Software Update to download the latest iOS release for your device.

PerformA Fresh Restore Using iTunes

It's highly likely that you're facing performance related issues due to the fact that your iPad is loaded with cache and other content. If that's the case then we highly recommend that you backup everything, and performa clean restore using iTunes.
