Samsung is enjoying a successful run with its share of foldable devices, and there is no denying that the company knows what they are doing. The recent duo of foldable phones might look like a small upgrade when compared to what the company did last year, but when you look at it from an engineering perspective, these devices are excellent, to say the least. It now appears that the company has been working on a foldable tablet, and we could learn more about it in the future.
Foldable Galaxy tablets and laptops will complete Samsung's quest to dominate the market with top-tier hardware
Based on information obtained from an interview with The Independent, it turns out that Samsung mobile chief T.M. Roh talked about how the company is currently working on foldable tablets as well as laptops, which spells great news for anyone who wants the foldable devices to be on the next level. Talking to the source, Roh said the following:
“People open up a book to read and open up a notebook to write something. When they’re not being used or when on the move and they can be folded shut, which makes them more compact and portable, as well as protecting important information inside. It’s just a natural part of human behavior."
He further confirmed that the company is currently working on such a device. "What has been applied to the smartphone will then spread to the tablet and laptops as well. To that end, we at Samsung are investing a lot of resources. ”Roh also confirmed that the company is currently working on preparing the "foundation technology" for both foldable tablets and laptops and will launch these devices when they are “ready to provide meaningful innovation to consumers.”
He also talked about how the foldable tablet or a laptop needs to be thin and light so it can be portable, but at the same time, it also needs to be strong so users can use it without any worrying. This point makes a lot of sense because foldable phones of the past were a lot more fragile than they are now, and if the same level of strength and structural rigidity could be added to foldable tablets and laptops, then Samsung could revolutionize the market once again. However, there's no concrete timeline as to when that will happen, so we will have to wait and see.
Now, it is important to know that this is not the first time we are hearing about a foldable tablet. The first series of rumors started appearing back in April 2021 when we heard that Samsung could be working on a triple-folding tablet. Samsung even filed a patent for a 12.4-inch rollable OLED panel only a couple of months ago, so there is a possibility that we could see the tablet sooner rather than later.
All of this is exciting news because not only will it give us top-tier hardware, but it will also urge the rest of the market to innovate on the same level. Samsung is one of the market leaders that has the power to influence the market, and that certainly is something that we are looking forward to seeing.
