Google is set to officially launch its Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro next month, and thanks to a barrage of leaks, almost everything is known about the two flagships. However, with the latest specifications sheet, we are now closer than ever to accumulating all the information we ever needed about these two models. The leak reveals that both devices do not have more than six exclusive hardware differences.

Camera hardware on the Pixel 8 Pro is about the only thing major between the two flagships this year

Earlier, a rumor stated that the Pixel 8 will start from $699, while the bigger Pixel 8 Pro will retail for $899 in the U.S. However, according to the specifications sheet that Evan Blass shared on X, which also compares the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, there are not many differences separating the two handsets. Starting with the displays, both phones will support up to a 120Hz display, but the Pixel 8 Pro can take that value down to 1Hz depending on what is resonating from the panel at the time.

With the Pixel 8, that refresh rate will only range from 60Hz to 120Hz, which will not contribute much to battery life conservation. Also, Google uses a Super Actua panel for the top-end model but only an Actua display for the regular version. It is unclear how this panel technology will help benefit the two, but we will find out during the official release. The camera department has the biggest differences between them, with the Pixel 8 Pro sporting a better 48MP ultrawide-angle unit and a 48MP telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom.

In Super Res Zoom, the Pixel 8 is limited to 8x and also lacks Pro controls, while the Pixel 8 Pro can support up to 30x zoom and provide more image and possibly video capture features to users. Suppose that was not enough, we have something else to talk about. For the first time, Google is introducing a temperature sensor to the 6.7-inch flagship, making it the only model in the entire Pixel lineup’s history to get this upgrade. Still, its usefulness is yet to be determined under real-world use.

These differences might appear to be a lot on paper, but we will have to see if they will have any major contrasts in the daily user experience. We will soon find out, so stay tuned for more updates from our side.
